Our Acknowledgement in Singapore

Nature Immersions acknowledges the lands and waters of Singapore as places of deep cultural memory, relationship, and stewardship.

Our Acknowledgement

We acknowledge the Indigenous Orang Laut, the sea people, whose lives and heritage are connected to Singapore’s islands, shores, and waterways. We also recognise the wider Malay cultural roots of this region and the many communities who have cared for these places across generations.

We pay respect to elders past and present, and we honour the continuing presence, knowledge, and resilience of coastal and island communities today.

Why we include this

Forest bathing is about relationship: to place, to body, to breath, and to each other. An acknowledgement is a simple, genuine way to remember that these landscapes are not just scenery. They hold stories, livelihoods, identity, and belonging. We aim to meet these environments with care and humility.

  • Respect: We enter with awareness, not entitlement.

  • Responsibility: We leave no trace and minimise disturbance to wildlife and habitat.

  • Learning: We stay open to the living histories of the places we visit.

  • Care: We guide gently, safely, and with consideration for the shared environment.

An Acknowledgement of Country is a respectful statement that recognises the people and living cultures connected to the place where we gather. For Nature Immersions, it is a way to approach Singapore’s landscapes with humility, care, and awareness.

Forest bathing is built on relationship with place. We believe it matters to recognise that these environments have histories and communities connected to them. Our acknowledgement is part of how we show respect and set a mindful tone for our sessions.

Orang Laut means sea people in Malay. The term is used for coastal and sea-oriented communities historically connected to the maritime regions around Singapore and nearby waters. Nature Immersions acknowledges Indigenous Orang Laut heritage as part of Singapore’s deeper story of place.

No. Our acknowledgement is about respect and relationship. It is a simple, genuine practice that aligns with how we guide: attentive, grounded, and caring towards the places we enter.

It reinforces our guiding standards. We choose locations thoughtfully, keep groups small, minimise disturbance, avoid sensitive areas where appropriate, and guide with a leave-no-trace mindset. We also encourage participants to treat the environment as a shared living space, not a backdrop.

No. You are welcome to simply listen. Nature Immersions sessions are designed to be inclusive and non-performative. The acknowledgement is a short moment of respect and orientation, not a test of knowledge.

Yes. Corporate experiences can include a brief acknowledgement at the start, along with a short framing around respect, attention, and environmental care. If your organisation has a preferred format, share it during enquiry and we will align where appropriate.

No. Nature Immersions offers guided forest bathing, breathwork, and wellbeing practices. We are respectful of place and history, but we do not position our sessions as formal cultural education. Where relevant, we may share light context in a careful, responsible way.
